FAQ
1. How about
the weapon training and Belgian Law regarding weapons?
First we need to know what is considered a weapon. "Every
device, tool, cutting, stabbing or blunt object used for
killing, hurting or threatening a person is considered a weapon".
Basically every instrument that can become an object of
agression. So yes we train with weapons. Our law regarding this
is very open for interpretation so it can be used in our
advantage as the law's advantage. Main rule is be smart. We got
three categories of weapons: forbidden weapons, free obtainable
weapons and weapons that need a license. Basically all our
weapons fall unders free obtainable weapons so keep following
rules in mind and you should be safe:
-Don't misuse a weapon: a weapon that is misused is
automatically considered 'forbidden'
-Never use or carry these weapons to others then home, training
or trainingrelated occasions
-Put weapons always in the trunk, covered is best out of
handreach
-Always have you membercard with you while carrying weapons
-Use your mind!
2. What age can I join?
We handle 2 different age categories: for boxing you must at
least be 16 years old. Due to it's violent nature we ask a
minimum of maturity. For the gladiatura we have a minimum age of
18. Persons must be mature about the fact that we train with
(blunt) weapons. We can also suspend a membership to the
gladiatura or boxing if we notice if the weaponry or boxing
skill isn't handled on a respect mature way.
3. I 'm competive of nature, is there competition?
Every member is free to join a competition. You must keep in
mind that our techniques we learn we once used for one of the
deadliests sports on earth. So a respect and controlled
agression of handling this martial art is required. To
participate in competition you offcourse must have your own set
of protection gear. During trainings there is also a lot of
space for sparring sessions.
4. Is this acting or a real martial arts?
We try to recreate the ancient martial arts of the roman
gladiators. Fights are semi or full contact and can be compared
to mixed martial arts. For the weapon training we train with
blunt weapons which can cause no real injury when controlled.
Normally fights go semi contact unless a 'fatal strike' is
giving which would cause earlier a gladiator to die or give up.
That is when the show element come in action to 'please the
crowd'.
5. Is this only sport or is there more?
Our organisation gives a lot more possibilities, we try to
recreate the life of roman gladiator and surroundings. Meaning
also learning a lot about history and recreate your own person.
We can also use a lot of side occupations meaning people who
like to study the roman medicine, arena rituals, religion,...
